About Kathy
This is me in a happy place with my favorite people! But, of course, my life isn't always filled with sunflowers and smiles.
When my oldest was diagnosed with autism, I remember feeling overwhelmed, lost, scared, and frantic to “fix” him. Eleven years later, my youngest child began to show some developmental challenges. While it was and is still challenging, the second time around I had a whole network of friends and professionals to lean on. I knew the questions to ask, and I knew how to get started. This time, I knew it was a marathon, not a sprint, and I also knew there was so much joy and community in being on an unexpected - sometimes difficult - journey. I wanted to bottle up and share that feeling of calm and confidence with other parents. When I learned about Parent Coaching, I realized it was the perfect way to start.
Why do you enjoy supporting parents?
"I connect with my clients because I truly understand where they are coming from. I come from a place of zero judgment and an incredible amount of understanding. I am no supernanny! (Don’t come visit me at 7pm on a weeknight unannounced!) I am also someone who is on a parenting journey that is a whole lot different than I ever imagined. Parenting can be so isolating, especially when your child isn’t doing everything just like everyone else. You can feel judged, embarrassed and alone. I love taking some weight off parents and help them find the tools to feel more joy in their parenting."
